Fishing

The historic sixty-year old lodge sits on the banks of the middle Rio Cisnes (Swan River) in one of the most scenic and idyllic settings you can imagine. The fishing schedule is tailored to the specific desires of our guests. A typical week program involves floating fishing 3-4 days on the Rio Cisnes or nearby Manuhuales, walk wading 1 or 2 days on the Rio Cisnes and spring fed tributaries and hidden lagunas or, fishing one of the productive nearby lakes which harbor some truly large surface feeding brown trout. The Rio Cisnes is an incredibly diverse watershed from top to bottom traverses through a wide range of environments from dry Montana- like open country, rugged granite canyons and pristine rainforest, offering a huge variety of fishing options and scenery. Float trips are done using inflatable rafts with comfortable rowing frames, and angling chairs and there are numerous places where anglers may get out and wade fish.

Many of Rex’s guides have returned for several seasons and are extremely knowledgeable of the fishing and local area. The lake fishing at La Posada de los Farios is certainly not to be overlooked. The fish are extremely healthy and average a stout 17-22 inches, often caught using large surface attractor patterns. However, truly MONSTER browns can be caught on the lakes; especially if you are willing to throw a sink-tip and streamers.
